HBPA BC 2024 Fall Elections
Volunteer to serve on the HBPA Board
The election term for an HBPA BC Board member is 3 years and current terms expire at the end of the 2024 meet – at the Annual General Meeting (date to be determined).
The following notice (2024 HBPABC Election Notice Posting) provides more information:
All positions are up for election. These include President (1), Owner Director (5) and Trainer Director (5). A combination Owner/Trainer is considered a Trainer for Board election purposes.
Additionally, all members of the HBPA BC (which are currently licensed Owners and Trainers) must be registered to vote. The Member Registration form is on the website at HBPA BC. Please register as soon as possible. Beginning August 30th, a supply of registration forms will be available at the East Gate if members wish to supply a paper-based registration form.
Elections will be 100% electronic and so each member will need to have a unique email address.

HBPA Election — Vacancies and Nominations
The HBPA BC President has asked Neil Stajkowski to head the Nominations Committee.
To date the following nominations have been received:
For President: David Milburn – incumbent (1 to be elected)
For Director – Owner: Gary Johnson, Denise Praill, Nigel Reid and Don Danard are incumbents, and, to date, Chris Ceraldi, Gail Jewsbury and Jordan Froelich will also be on the ballot. (5 to be elected)
For Director – Trainer: Steve Henson, Barb Heads, Mel Snow, Patty Leaney are incumbents, and to date, John Snow, Mark Freeman and Demetris Topouzis will also be on the ballot. (5 to be elected)
Please note that an individual that is both an owner and trainer can run in the election only as a trainer.
Additional Nominations – open until September 5
Nominees need to be qualified – over 19 yrs old, have a current and clear owner or trainer license and cannot be an officer or director of a horse breeding organization, a racing association, an association of track operators or a member of the racing commission unless this qualification is waived by 75% of the current directors.

Neil will then provide you with any other instructions or requirements. Please be prepared to send a short bio and picture as soon as possible to be included in the election posting information.
Election Timing
The Election be electronic over a two-week period beginning September 30. Election details and election registration and election registration details will be posted on our website or on the notice board by the East Gate at Hastings.
