Hastings Review for Tuesday, August 23rd
Race 1.
The first on the Tuesday card was won by Jordan Froelich's JERSEY LILLIE ($8.60) who sat a perfect trip on the outside of his stablemate FLYUNDERTHEGRAYDAR those two were relaxed through a 22.61 quarter mile and a 46.45 half-mile then the lone filly in the lineup JERSEY LILLIE started to sneak away on the turn and just led to the wire and also had to survive a stewards enquiry but she was left as the winner for Silvino Morales and trainer Dino Condilenios. Nick and Pauline Felicella's JACOBS CALL had no luck with the trip as he was three wide throughout and was unlucky not to win as he lost by the bob of the nose at the finish. Rob and Sheena Maybin's EYE BE SEEING YOU came flying late in the stretch and just missed by a head ending up third.
Claims: JERSEY LILLIE was claimed by Robert Thacker and trainer Demetris Topouzis

Russ and Lois Bennett's SYNERGY ran a solid race chasing the speed of BOLD ARCH through sensible fractions of 24.24, 47.63 and 1:12.32 dropped back to third at the quarter pole but re-rallied to get he second spot under Antonio Reyes. Joe and Gloria Russo's FORT LANGLEY made a big of a late charge to claim third money.

Stables BETTIN' MAN ($8.80) who was given a picture perfect ride by Amadeo Perez as the two were unhurried early letting a speed duel materialize then quickly swept by the tired leaders on the turn and drew off to win for trainer Erick Gutierrez in 1:18.43. The sixth on the program went to the Willow Creek Farm's LAUGH WITH ME ($9.30) who sat a good trip in behind the speed and seemed to be spinning his wheels on the final turn but when straightened in the stretch he came with giant strides to nail the speed nearing the line in 1:17.35 under Amadeo Perez for trainer Steve Henson. Craig MacPherson's BLUEGRASS ANGUS was content to sit second early watching the speedy KHAIKY'S COMMAND set splits of 22.13 and 45.50 then got the better of that rival in the lane but was very tired late and got caught approaching the wire. Replays of INFINITE PATIENCE and AT ATTENTION
They have the labelling around the wrong way (The Northlands Distaff is the first video), but here are INFINITE PATIENCE and AT ATTENTION winning at Century Mile on Saturday. Both remarkable races and performances for different reasons, but both spectacular in their own way.
