Race 1.
The first of the Saturday program saw Rob and Sheena Maybin's FLYING MISS ($6.30) rally up the inside in the stretch to collar the pacesetters with Chris Mamdeen at the controls to win in 1:17.53 for leading trainer Rob Maybin. Randy Lane and Roy Nelson's ISLAND LIVING was keen early, leaving the gate sharply and was settled in behind the speed by Kimal Santo before advancing approaching the far turn, briefly gaining the lead in the stretch and ending up a good second for trainer Cindy Krasner. Gary Johnson's ALOBRAH made the lead with some urging through solid fractions (22.35, 45.98) under Richard Balgobin, lead the field into the lane, but got a little tired late and finished a close third for Hall-of-Fame conditioner Frank Barroby .
Race 2.

The second race went to the Hastings Racing Club’s BAKBURNER ($3.70), who raced up on a sensible pace (22.37, 46.23) with Kimal Santo aboard and started to run away from the field on the far turn, cruising home the easiest of winners in 1:16.66 for trainer Steve Henson. Stewart Spencer, Sean Ederer, Randy Klaassen, Ryan Lee and Siobhan Callander's FOOTHILLS BLVD. was in a perfect striking spot behind the speed, encountered some trouble on the backside, losing momentum under Kerron Khelawan. They shifted clear of trouble quickly but couldn’t make any ground of the winner, ending up a good second for Keith Pedersen. Hastings Horsepower and Motley Crew's TRIPLE L'S CUTTER was rationed by Learie Seecharan early and produced a solid run to be a fast closing third for trainer Dave Milburn.
Race 3.
The third of the day was won by Randy Lane and Roy Nelson's RUN RUDOLF ($4.30), who was content to relax behind a slow pace by Kimal Santo and proved to be a great move as they put in a brilliant last quarter-mile spurt to run by them all in a very fast 1:15.49 for trainer Cindy Krasner. Ed Claggett's LUCKY FORCE took his usual position off the pace under Amadeo Perez, then shot up the rail to engage the leaders but was outsprinted to the line, checking in an impressive runner-up for Craig MacPherson. Nicole Droder's MASEN (GB) set comfortable fractions (22.62, 46.11) and led the field to the stretch with Kerron Khelawan in the irons but couldn’t stay with the top two and ended up third for Craig MacPherson.
Race 4 — $50,000 Emerald Downs Stakes
The fourth race of the afternoon was the $50,000 Emerald Downs Stakes for older fillies and mares at a six-and-a-half-furlongs and, going wire-to-wire, was Dennis Dale, Morris Peter and Ed Welsh's AIR FORCE ($16.00), who was able to secure the front end easily (23.41, 47.36) under Antonio Reyes before holding off all challengers to win gamely in 1:16.81 for trainer Keith Pedersen. Peter Redekop's AVANA fell victim to a very slow tempo and closed quickly through the lane, but ran out of racetrack under Amadeo Perez, finishing a good second for Barbara Heads. Swift Thoroughbreds’ BUNNY was held back off of the slow pace and produced a sharp move under Kimal Santo to challenge for the lead and just missed, ending up third beaten less than a length for trainer Dino Condilenios.
Race 5 — $50,000 George Royal stakes
The fifth race was the $50,000 George Royal stakes for older colts and geldings at six and a half furlongs and, taking home top honours, was Robin Sadler, Kim and John Morrison's BOLD ARCH ($3.80) who easily made the lead, dawdling through splits of 22.66 and 46.11 under the guidance of Chris Mamdeen, and they toyed with their rivals winning well clear in 1:15.35 for trainer John Morrison. Dave and Sylvea Gregory's SOARINGFORTHESUN was away well and opted to settle in behind the winner under Kimal Santo, staying-on nicely to be second for conditioner Sylvea Gregory. Roger Snow, Don Danard and Conrad Rozenek's SPACE was also away well from the gate under Richard Balgobin, taking the boxed seat and remaining on the fence throughout, checking in an impressive third for Mel Snow.
Race 6.
The sixth race went to Lorie Henson and Helen Klimes QUEEN OF ATTITUDE ($2.60) who, as expected, inhaled the field late to get her second win of the season under Amadeo Perez, stopping the clock in 1:16.61 for trainer Steve Henson. Bob Leffler, Bryan Killins and Gord McCormick's ANOTHERSUNNYDAY ran another good one as she rallied from just off the pace to get the runner-up spot for Dino Condilenios. BFA Holdings INDYETTA was sent up to challenge for the lead by Kimal Santo, duelling through splits of 22.45 and a swift 45.94, took command turning for home but couldn’t stay near the winner and just lost second late to be third for Cindy Krasner.
