Race 1.
The first race on the Saturday afternoon program was eventually won via disqualification by Richard Hunter's WEEKENDINDELMAR ($3.20) who raced on the pace (22.61, 45.90) under Amadeo Perez and battled to the wire, finishing second for trainer Edgar Mendoza. The pair was subsequently moved up to the win position after a disqualification. Minnaloushe Stables and Dave Milburn's BABY I'M A STAR showed good speed but was impeded going into the first turn, losing valuable position with Learie Seecharan in the saddle and they held well to be third and were promoted to second after the DQ. Willow Creek Farm's SHE'S KIND OF HOT broke well under Antonio Reyes and vied for the lead but did bump into BABY I'M A STAR at the five-eighths pole, causing interference so, while he ended up first at the wire in 1:18.50 for trainer Steve Henson, he was subsequently placed third for the interference on the first turn.
Race 2.
The second of the day went to Hastings Horsepower and Motley Crew's COBRA JET ($7.40) who sped off to the front, setting very comfortable fractions (23.56, 47.48) under Bebeto Harvey, then sprinted clear to an easy score in 1:17.84 for trainer Peter Milburn. Sasquatch Stables RING OF KERRY was given a perfect ride by Silvino Morales, saving every inch of ground and sneaking up the inside to claim the second spot for trainer Greg Beneen. Rob and Sheena Maybin's EYE BE SEEING YOU was hurt by the slow pace as his off-the-pace style didn't help him today and he could only rescue third money under Chris Mamdeen for conditioner Rob Maybin.
Claims:
Y VEE R was claimed by owners Victoria & Robert Gilker for trainer Robert Gilker
Race 3.
The third race saw Sandra Corsan’s BORROWED EQUITY ($6.80) finally break through with a win in his eleventh career start, as Brian Boodramsingh guided him to an impressive win in 1:19.08 for trainer Mel Snow. Forster Stable's ON MY GOOD SIDE was in a good spot behind the speed with Antonio Reyes at the helm, then tipped-out three-wide turning for home but could not get near the winner, ending up second for Dave Forster. Willow Creek Farm's DELTA SUNRISE set a contested tempo (23.11, 47.50) with Amadeo Perez aboard but lost the lead approaching the far turn and hung on for third for trainer Steve Henson.
Race 4.
The fourth race on the card was won by Lorie Henson and Helen Klimes’ QUEEN OF ATTITUDE ($3.60), who showed her superiority once again at this level under Amadeo Perez and, despite being a tad wide, she cruised home an easy winner for trainer Steve Henson. Willow Creek Farm's NINE OCLOCK CEASER set a clear lead under Antonio Reyes (22.65, 46.27) but got caught by her stablemate in mid-stretch and finished a good second. K D Rycroft Racing Stables, Dennis Dale, Paul Cashman, David Morgan and Jesse Morgan's WANDALITA put in a solid run on the stretch turn to engage the leaders and stayed on to be third for trainer Nicole Rycroft.
Race 5.
The fifth of the day saw Tod Mountain Thoroughbreds EDDIE'S GIRL ($6.90) rally late to just get up in the shadow of the wire under Kimal Santo and win in 1:17.73 for trainer Edgar Mendoza. Don and Sue Danard's B C CHU CHU almost caused a big upset as she took the lead turning for home at 17-1 under Brian Boodramsingh but just got caught late and ended up a very good runner-up for trainer Mel Snow. Gord Christoff’s EYES OF BEAUTY was void of early speed under Scott Williams, but when asked she responded with a brilliant last quarter mile to be a fast closing third for conditioner Rob Anderson.
Race 6.
The sixth of the day went to Rob and Sheena Maybin's AVE'S IN COMMAND ($9.60), who turned in another stellar wire-to-wire performance (22.16, 45.50), turning back allcomers and winning under Chris Mamdeen in 1:17.20 for trainer Rob Maybin. Michelle Roberts-Henson and Mark McGinnis RACING RIVER was held up behind the speed by Amadeo Perez, then put in a threatening three-wide move to get into the second position for trainer Rob Henson. Stewart Spencer and Vanessa Pedersen's KNOPFLER as usual was glued to the rail with Silvino Morales aboard and scooted up the inside to be third for trainer Keith Pedersen.
Claims:
TIZ VICIOUS was claimed by owner Hastings Horsepower for trainer Peter Milburn
Race 7.
The finale was won by Nancy Betts’ CEREBRO ($16.60) who was sharp early, setting solid splits (22.25, 45.49), and stayed strong late under Silvino Morales to get the victory in 1:16.94 for trainer Nancy Betts. Dynamic Stables, Dennis Dale, Cathy and Kelly Rycroft's BIG UNION settled just off the pace with Kimal Santo at the controls, then put in a menacing stretch drive and just missed ending up in the runner-up spot for trainer Nicole Rycroft. Canyon Farm's PURSUE was far back early under Amadeo Perez and was gathering ground quickly late but had no room through the final sixteenth of a mile and checked in third for Craig MacPherson.

Full Count Felicia Strikes in G2 Canadian Stakes
Courtesy Woodbine
TORONTO, August 10, 2024 – Full Count Felicia, under an enterprising ride by Rafael Hernandez, took all the spoils in the $200,000 Canadian Stakes (G2T) Presented by the Japan Racing Association, on Saturday afternoon at Woodbine.
The Canadian, a 1 1/8-mile race over the E.P. Taylor turf for 3-year-olds and up, went postward with eight fillies and mares after the scratches of Moira, Mission of Joy, and Libban.
Full Count Felicia, who came into the race off a fourth in the Nassau Stakes (G2T) at Woodbine on June 29, was sent to the front by Hernandez soon after the gates opened, while Elysian Field tracked in second, followed by Fashionably Fab, who settled into third through a tepid opening panel reached in :24.51.
It was status quo for the lead duo through a half in :48.44, with Full Count Felicia clear by two lengths over Elysian Field, with Forever After All sitting third along the rail, shadowed by Star Fortress (IRE) to her outside.
Hernandez let it out a notch heading into the turn for home and Full Count Felicia responded, as the pair widened their lead. Elysian Field, Star Fortress, and Forever After All looked to reel in the freewheeling leader, but to no avail.
Ahead by five lengths at the stretch call, the 5-year-old daughter of War Front-Clair de Lune (IRE), trained by Kevin Attard for owner Gold Square LLC, crossed the wire 2 ¾ lengths on top. Millie Girl rallied to net second, three-quarters of a length ahead of Five Towns (GB). Fashionably Fab, also trained by Attard, was fourth.
The final time over good going was 1:48.69.
