Race 1.
The Sunday opener was supposed to be a blowout for the 1-9 favourite I'M A CHI TOO ($2.30) but, while he did win the race, it was far more exciting than perhaps anticipated. The Jordan Froelich and Dino Condilenios runner was off smartly but was hung out three wide through the opening fractions of 23.61 and 46.86 and Fraser Aebly had to call on every bit of his talent in the stretch to hold off he fast closing EYE BE SEEING YOU to cross the line first in 1:12.94. Rob and Sheena Maybin's EYE BE SEEING YOU was held back in last early and made a menacing move on the stretch turn to make things interesting. The Canmor Farm's MAKEITORBREAKIT chose to challenge the pace from his inside post and battled gamely ending up a close third.
Race 2.
The second race was won impressively by the Tod Mountain Thoroughbreds’ WANDALITA ($6.70), who tracked a slow early pace (23.54, 47.59) and out-sprinted her rivals to the wire under Amadeo Perez to win in 1:17.94 for trainer Edgar Mendoza. Willow Creek Farm's IRISH LUNA was content to race just in behind the pedestrian pace on the rail under Fraser Aebly and scooted up the inside to gain the runner-up spot in deep stretch. Christine Ammann's REA MEA had the early lead but wasn’t keen to relax and was tossing her head through the opening three-eighths of a mile and it cost her as took some run out of her and she checked in third. She will definitely be better next time with this race under her belt.
Race 3.
The third of the afternoon was won by the Deyotte Racing Stables’ TRAPALIS ($6.80) who, despite travelling wide throughout, was miles the best as he cruised to a big score in 1:19.38 under jockey Antonio Reyes for trainer Ryan Deyotte. Willow Lake Farms and Stables’ ROLLIE'S SPIRIT set a comfortable although contested pace of 23. 24 and 47.52, fended off all of his pace challengers, but could not stay with the winner and checked in second. As usual, Michelle Roberts-Henson, Brad Henson, Randy Henson, Dan Henson and Trevor Irwin's BARNEY GOOGLE was well back early but came with a huge late run to get third money.

The fourth race on the program was the closest of the day as three horses hit the wire together, withHigh Stakes Thoroughbreds and John Snow's JUVEE TOO ($8.60) getting up the rail to win by the narrowest of margin sunder Fraser Aebly. Last early, Aebly rode the rail to victory in 1:18.03 for trajner John Snow. The Hawaiian Shirt Guys’ FOOT SOLDIER ran another good one by was forced wide on the final turn and bumped out at the head of the stretch and only missed by a nose under Silvino Morales for trainer Dino Condilenios. Stewart Spencer's KNOPFLER did all the heavy lifting early (22.67, 46.73) and stayed on resolutely through the final eighth of a mile, but ended up an unlucky third beaten a neck for all the money.
Race 5.
The fifth of the day was the Johnson Family Purse, named for Ken and Sharon Johnson, long time owners and supporters of horse racing in B.C. Taking home the win was Dave and Sylvea Gregory's SOARINGFORTHESUN ($7.50), who was given picture perfect ride by Amadeo Perez, settled into the third spot on the inside early, watching a contested speed duel and then challenging three wide to edge out CASCADE BILLY in the stretch for trainer Edgar Mendoza in 1:17.07. Don Danard and Mel Snow's CASCADE BILLY got caught up in a wicked pace duel of 22.08 and a blistering 44.82 for the opening half-mile and he stayed strong in the stretch and just missed under Kimal Santo. Done Danard, Roger Snow and Conrad Rozenek's BOITANO had no speed early but made a brilliant move from well back to be a fast closing third under Brian Boodramsingh.
Race 6.
The sixth on the day went to Jordan Froelich's MORETHANSOULTITLE ($9.20), who was driven up between horses after a slow beginning to get in contention early under Amadeo Perez.
